Is it just for magic for kids? Are the adults going to be bored?
No and no! While my standard comedy magic show is written for kids with an emphasis on the silly, I also offer shows for adults.
But even when performing for children, parents always tell me how much they also enjoyed the show. I like to think of it like this: when I take my kids to Disney World, we go for them. I happen to also really enjoy Disney World, but I’d choose to experience it differently without them. More specifically, there would be a lot fewer Frozen sing-a-longs. At the same time, though, I really love that stupid Frozen sing-a-long. But I love it because they’re having such a good time!
My children’s magic show is kind of like that. I put jokes in there for the adults, for sure. And I do some really amazing, jaw dropping magic, yes. But the reason the show plays as well for the grown-ups as it does for the kids is because it plays well for the kids. As a parent myself, I know – there is nothing better than seeing your kid laughing with delight. And that is what I deliver – your child, experiencing wonder and delight, laughing their butts off for 45 minutes straight!

Absolutely! In addition to being a magician, I’m also an accomplished balloon twister! When you hire me for balloon twisting, I’ll make sure that every kid gets a balloon sculpture before I leave.

Is Matt a Magician Near Me?
Probably! Maybe? I’m based out of Wallingford, which has the advantage of being fairly central to the state, making me a local magician to most of Connecticut. I joke that the Wallingford/Meriden area is near just about everything in Connecticut, due to its proximity to I91, I84, I691, and Rte. 15.
The good news is that even if you’re not near me, I travel all over the state of Connecticut, and to some parts of New York and Massachusetts! Typically, most parts of New Haven, Hartford, and Middlesex counties are close enough that I travel there without an added fee. If you’re not sure if you’re near me, the best way to find out is to contact me and ask!
What Do I Have To Provide For The Magic Show?
The short answer is nothing! I bring everything I need with me (including my own tables and other equipment), making the party completely stress free for you! The slightly longer answer is, in some cases, I need you to provide access to an electrical outlet close by for my sound system (but that’s typically only necessary for magic shows at larger parties and events).
What Time Should The Magic Show Be Scheduled For?
The timing is up to you (as long as I have the availability). In general, there are some things to keep in mind:
1) If you book a combination of a magic show and balloon twisting, I will open with the magic show and then do the balloon twisting afterward. If your specific party needs me to adjust and change the order of events, I can do that (I’ll do whatever I can to accommodate your needs and make your party awesome and stress free), but it is my strong recommendation that we start with the magic show.
2) For a kid’s magic show, I STRONGLY recommend that no food or drink be served to the children during the magic show. This isn’t a movie where the kids are expected to sit there, quietly munching on popcorn and candy. This is an INTERACTIVE show with LOTS of audience participation. It’s best when the kids’ hands are free so they can wiggle their fingers, raise their hands, and come up to volunteer with the magic tricks.
3) When the magic show is over and the balloon twisting starts (if you’ve booked a combination package) it’s perfectly fine to do other activities, such as serving food, singing “happy birthday,” or playing games. In fact, if you want to have the kids sit down and eat, I can make balloons while they’re eating (this works great for solo balloon art, too, at party places like trampoline parks and bowling alleys).
4) While lots of people like to schedule birthday parties on weekends, those tend to conflict with sports, dance lessons, and other regular events. Friday evening parties are becoming more popular due to this reason, so consider that as an option!
